FAO

Developing agricultural frameworks to address food insecurity in Conflict Affected and High-Risk Areas (CAHRAs)

FAO

The FAO is mandated to lead international efforts in defeating hunger, improving nutrition, and promoting food security worldwide. FAO plays a pivotal role in supporting member states through research, policy advice, capacity building, and on-the-ground projects aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural development. Its mandate encompasses a wide array of objectives, including increasing agricultural productivity, improving rural livelihoods, enhancing the resilience of communities against food crises, and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources. As part of its mission, FAO also collects data and provides valuable information on global agriculture trends, helping policymakers make informed decisions that support food systems and environmental health.

CHLOE KAM

DEPUTY CHAIR | QMUN

This is Chloe, a third year Neuroscience student at Queen Mary, University of London! She is excited to be back at BathMUN as deputy chair for FAO! She joined MUN in her second year of university and have met her fellow chairs, as well as good friends, Hayley and Ted, and has never looked back since!

Outside of MUN, she enjoys procrastinating on her degree by spending her time at bookstores, watching history documentaries, trying different foods and restaurants with friends and playing the piano!

TED YIP

HEAD CHAIR | CAMBRIDGE UNA

Ted is an incoming first-year student of BA Human, Social and Political Sciences at Christ’s College, Cambridge. He was born and raised in Hong Kong, but he's now living in London. His interest in politics spans from conceptualizing social movements to analyzing global conflicts.

Although he didn't have the chance to do MUN in high school, his passion for MUN never faded away - he has participated in multiple university-level conferences, and served as the First Year Representative at UCL United Nations Association and Director General at UCLMUN Edition X.

He is really excited to chair the FAO committee at BathMUN this year and he looks forward to meeting all of you at the conference! Outside of MUN, you might find him either playing on a public piano (which he has been playing for more than 15 years) or studying in the UCL Student Centre until 2am (thankfully it's open 24/7).

HAYLEY KWOK

DEPUTY CHAIR | UCLMUN

Hayley is a second-year UCL French with Management student. She is currently UCL United Nations Association’s Vice President for External Affairs and Press Director for UCLMUN 2024. Aside from MUN, she has been fascinated by food science and interested in nutrition for longer than she can recall.

Naturally, Hayley is very excited to chair the Food and Agriculture Organisation at BathMUN, and looks forward to discussions on innovative approaches to reducing food insecurity. Other than baking, she also enjoys photography, bouldering and drinking coffee.
