RULES OF PROCEDURE & AI
BATHMUN operates using the London International MUN Rules of Procedure released during the year of the conference. LIMUN's Rules of Procedure can be found on their website using the button below for reference.

Large Language Models (LLM) or Generative AI usage is strictly forbidden throughout the BathMUN 2025 conference. LLM and Generative AI refers to a group of technologies including, but not limited to, ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Claude, Copilot, and Meta AI.
AWARDS
BATHMUN awards three different awards in GA committees, with the criteria listed below.
M
Most Improved Award
Most Improved delegates actively seek to improve their debate ability, policy understanding, or Model UN skills. This delegate does not necessarily lead the debate, but demonstrates an understanding of their delegating style and its weaknesses.
Chairs should look for a delegate that both seeks feedback and demonstrates an understanding of onboarding feedback. Alternatively, chairs should look for a delegate that is self-critical throughout the conference and works towards being more diplomatic.
It is important for chairs to recognise delegates’ progress throughout every committee session, especially recognising delegates that follow or surpass the perceived trajectory of improvement.
Honourable Mention
Honourable Mention delegates show a clear understanding of international foreign policy to steer debate and to achieve their nation’s representative agenda. This delegate might use research beyond the scope of the committee’s study guide including foreign policy and history of the committee.
Chairs should recognise delegates that influence the flow of conversation through unique talking points, introducing unmentioned angles, and holding other nations accountable. These delegates have a strong skillset in one area of debate over another for example, this delegate thrives in directing Working Papers and Draft Resolutions over charismatic speeches, or vice versa. However they are able to navigate towards a compromising resolution.

Diplomacy Award
Most Diplomatic delegates demonstrate a strong understanding of diplomacy and Model UN procedure. This delegate uses precise knowledge, active listening, and participation in conversation within their blocs. This delegate balances knowledge of international foreign policy and realistic cooperation with other committee members.

It is important for chairs to recognise that while active contributions in the General Speaker’s List and Motions is a sign of a competent delegate, diplomatic delegates do not commandeer the debate but push for compromise and resolution that encompasses their bloc’s agenda. Chairs should find a delegate that listens to others, acknowledges different perspectives while navigating an appropriate resolution.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The primary goal of BATHMUN is enjoyment of the delegates and creation of a healthy forum for discussion among our delegates. We take delegate behaviour seriously during both debate and socials due to the sensitive topics we discuss and the often complex nature of our debates. This Code of Conduct, our Sensitive Topics Policy and our Welfare and Inclusivity Policy outline our commitment to our delegates.

Violations can be reported anonymously to the secretariat through the form below, or to any members of the secretariat during the conference. All complaints will be handled confidentially where possible. If the secretariat deems a delegate to have broken the code of conduct, they may be asked to leave the conference.

The complains form allows you to report any issues you have with another delegates conduct, committee atmosphere or conference problems to the secretariat anonymously. If you have safeguarding or welfare issue or simply want some assistance, please complete the form or seek out a secretariat member and we'll be able to help.
SENSITIVE TOPICS POLICY
BATHMUN supports the discussion of all topics during our conference, however we maintain a sensitive topics policy to ensure that all topics are discussed with the necessary tact and understanding that they require. At Model UN we pride ourselves on being a place for productive debate and feel we have a duty to tackle difficult topics. However, all participants are expected to engage in a sensitive manner with caution, recognising that members in the room could have been impacted, both directly and indirectly by these topics. Sensitive topics are defined as the following but can encompass many topics. These include armed conflict, religious or governance-based issues, geographical occupation, or border disputes.
WELFARE AND INCLUSIVITY
BATHMUN takes delegate welfare and inclusivity seriously. We maintain a welfare and inclusivity policy to ensure that all delegates are supported during the conference, and take a no tolerance approach to harassment, sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia.

USG Internal Relations Josh and USG Delegate Affairs Jake are responsible for this area and will support delegates with accessibility requirements prior to the conference, they are also responsible for managing our complaints process.

Our conference will feature a dedicated welfare room in CB5.12 on Friday and CB5.1 on Saturday and Sunday for delegates needing to step out during debate, and chairs will be made aware and adhere to conference policies at all times.

Inclusivity Statement:
BATHMUN is a place for everyone and must remain a kind, caring and welcoming place under all circumstances. We believe that people at feel welcome at MUN, they become better delegates and better themselves through our conference. BelongAtBathMUN symbolises our intent to ensure that everyone is welcome and MUN and receives the support they need to become their best selves within the Model UN circuit. We do not tolerate discrimination, hate, homophobia, transphobia, ableism or racism in any form.
